Knowing that strangers are going to be staying staying in your holiday home can give you the jitters. This can be overcome with a couple of quick questions and a bit of research to put your mind at ease.
How to evaluate your guests
You could ask your traveller a few simple questions, such as:
Who are you travelling with?
How many are in your party?
Why did you choose this property?
What are the age ranges of the people in your group?
Are you travelling?
Have you been to this area before?
You can round this off by being helpful. By knowing a bit about who's staying and if they've travelled to your area before, you may be able to offer some helpful suggestions.
This communication gives you a chance to get to know the visitor better and determine if they're the right fit for your holiday rental.
Using traveller's reviews:
If a traveller has requested a booking, it's worth taking a look at what other owners have said about them before you accept. This is easy to do with the likes of Airbnb and Home Away. Casting your eye over past reviews in your vetting process will help to ease your mind!
And of course, everyone is on Facebook these days so you could always go one step further especially if you are experiencing a gut feeling, to see if they're a bit of a party animal!
By taking these simple pre-emptive steps you can ensure that you know your guests a bit better. It doesn't hurt to get a little extra information up front before you let people into your home.
